One Year of Wilshire Vista Neighborhood Signs

This month marks one year since the Wilshire Vista neighborhood signs were installed—a major milestone made possible by a true community effort.

This effort was led by WVNA Board members, Julie Collinson and Matthew Peridis, who brought this project to life—from the initial concept design and fundraising to coordination and installation.

The signs are now a daily, visible reflection of the pride we share in our neighborhood and a reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together.

Thank you to everyone who donated, advocated, and volunteered to help make the Wilshire Vista signs a reality, and a special thank you to Julie and Matthew for their leadership.

We are looking for neighbors to support WVNA in a few key volunteer roles:

  • Social Media Team Member – Help us share neighborhood updates, promote WVNA events, spotlight local businesses, and keep residents informed and connected across our social channels.

  • Event Manager – Help us plan and coordinate gatherings like block parties, meet‑ups, and special events.

  • Volunteer Coordinator – Help connect neighbors with volunteer opportunities and organize sign‑ups for WVNA initiatives.

If you enjoy connecting people and want to deepen your involvement, this is a wonderful way to get more involved and make a meaningful difference in Wilshire Vista.

To learn more, express interest, or have a neighborhood suggestion, please send us an email.

Neighborhood Updates

Metro K Line Northern Extension
Metro has advanced the K Line Northern Extension, selecting a route that would run along San Vicente and Fairfax before turning toward Beverly and West Hollywood. This would eventually bring rail service very close to Wilshire Vista.

SB 79: Housing Near Transit
SB 79 is now state law. The City of Los Angeles has chosen a phased approach that gradually increases allowed density near transit while it works on infrastructure, tenant protections, and safety planning through 2030. Because Wilshire Vista is close to key transit corridors, our neighborhood could see more development interest over time.

If you’d like to learn more, Los Angeles City Planning has maps, FAQs, and updates on its SB 79 page.

WVNA works with the City and our neighboring councils to advocate for Wilshire Vista’s interests as these plans move forward.

Community Safety & Walk With A CopWVNA and the PICO NC continue to work closely with our local LAPD partners to share concerns, get timely information, and strengthen relationships between officers and community members.

Recent “Walk With a Cop” efforts and small‑group conversations have given residents a chance to ask questions, share what they’re seeing on their blocks, and hear directly from officers about crime trends and resources. Our goal is to build an ongoing, collaborative relationship so officers have a clearer picture of what matters most to Wilshire Vista and the surrounding area.
