Halloween Haunt Block Party: Spells, Costumes, and Community Magic
Thank you to everyone who conjured up community spirit and joined us for our annual Halloween Haunt Block Party! Neighbors, friends, and families cast a festive spell over Wilshire Vista, transforming our streets into a magical scene filled with witches’ hats, wizard capes, and whimsical delights. Mysterious magicians and mystical characters roamed among enchanted crafts, an unforgettable train ride, and a bounty of treats and potions for all to enjoy.
A special thank you to all our generous sponsors and volunteers, your ongoing support makes these events truly possible. Special recognition goes to our event leads, Julie Collinson and Matt Peridis, whose creativity and attention to detail, from decorations and crafts to entertainment and treats, truly brought the theme to life. The dedication and teamwork of our volunteers, sponsors, and event leads are what make Wilshire Vista’s gatherings magical.
Neighborhood Updates
Street Light Outages
We are excited to share great news: street lights on Orange Grove and Fairfax were restored last week! This milestone follows months of tracking by WVNA Board and Street Liaison volunteers, who documented more than 40 outages in February and over 100 in September. Heartfelt thanks go to our dedicated volunteers for tracking outages and to Councilwoman Heather Hutt and Mayra Guevara at CD10 for her persistent advocacy. Repairs on three more neighborhood streets are expected soon. Your vigilance and reporting truly make a difference as we tackle the citywide backlog together.
Meet Our New Senior Lead Officer
Officer Deantraye Dantzler is now serving as Wilshire Vista’s Senior Lead Officer and primary LAPD community contact. You’ll find his information on the Resources page of our neighborhood website. The safety of our community is always a top priority.
The LAPD encourages everyone to report crimes—including non-emergency incidents. For emergencies, please call 911. For issues like noise complaints or suspicious activity that don’t require immediate response, call the LAPD non-emergency line at 1-877-ASK-LAPD (1-877-275-5273) or 213-617-5912. Your reports help law enforcement log activity in our area, which leads to increased neighborhood patrols and support for our community.
Neighborhood Improvements & Reporting
WVNA is actively partnering with city agencies to address traffic upgrades, water build-up, and street erosion throughout Wilshire Vista.

You can download the app, visit the website, or simply call 311 to report issues. Staying informed and engaged helps advocate for our neighborhood’s needs and ensures our voice is heard.
